I think it's reasonable to display the Gnome logo in places - they contribute a HUGE amount to Ubuntu!
That is an indisputable fact. However; as the stock Ubuntu panel displays the Ubuntu logo for the Applications menu, it is inconsistent (I figure that the panel-splash-icon is desigened to look like the stock Gnome panel).
I don't want to purge Gnome logos from Ubuntu, it's mainly the specific inconsistensy that concerns me. Anyway - it's a minor issue.
