I have contacted Canonical directly about it, perhaps we could set up an effort which formalised the creation of media artwork as it has a different aspect which crosses over into the marketing world.
I notice the marketing group currently deals with people who _do_ market ubuntu rather than those that produce the materials which they can use to effectively market. I'm not sure if Canonical will like this idea though, the whole idea a volunteer group that makes marketing materials for oss seems new to me (perhaps mozilla has one I don't know). I would envisage a group effort to prepare, proofread and make available the materials that enable effective marketing; one that creates not just CD covers but things like banners, fliers, CD/DVD inserts (instructions/help information) as well as CD covers, CD case art works and logos. This would take the hard work out of spreading ubuntu in creating a professional and consistent image for the ubuntu 'brand'.
