Hello artists, While I'm still working out the details of the Target Identification phase, I want to start up the artwork process today with the Ponder phase. It's time to get started on the fresh, new, exciting Edgy release.
Starting today and lasting up to the 6th of July, which is thursday next week, you can send in all your exciting, fun and wacky ideas for the Ubuntu Human themed artwork. What we're looking for is texture references, material examples and possibly audio and video samples conveying your ideas. These textures, materials and other references are going to be considered for the consistent look of the usplash (if possible), the login manager screen, the login splash and the desktop wallpaper. In the Wiki[1] we describe this phase as: " Ponder consists entirely to determine the general artistic direction for a given release. The result of this phase should be a relatively short list of concepts that will lead the direction of all artistic elements. The following is a brief list of questions to ask when determining artistic direction: - What are the trademark concepts that the release wishes to communicate? - What textures come to mind for illustrating this trademark? - Is there an existing concept that this release is externally referencing? " On that Wiki page[1], there is a lot more information on the whole artwork process and the Ponder phase. If you haven't read this page yet, please do so as soon as conveniently possible. One of the trademark concepts we're going to use is glass, as requested by Mark. So examples of glass being used in several contexts, shapes and forms will be a great start. We will try to moderate and process the incoming submissions and I want you all to go ahead and provide feedback to each other as well, so that we have an open discussion on what ideas will work and which ones won't.
