Hello,

There is something really cool in that texture : that's completely
different from SuSE, Vista and OS X lines. Where Dapper wallpaper look
too much like OS X, that one is really distinctive.

Of course, color needs to be tweeked, but that's really nice.

I do not like the wallpaper : the line are too concentrated.

Seriously cool technique. I agree with Étienne though, the wallpaper in the last link cuts the desktop too much in two parts for my liking.

As you suggest this could do good as a unifying theme for splashes, wallpapers and such, I am totally with you on that. Maybe even metacity borders?

The danger in doing this pervasively is that the desktop might become to "spacy" if you know what I mean. -- Too futuristic.

Cheers,
Mikkel

I'd still like to experiment with this. It could be a very nice addition to the stuff I've already made, although I doubt whether it would be suitable on its own. The images that I've seen thus far, however, are very small and aliased, though. Maybe that can be solved simply by making a gigantic texture and then downscaling it.
