Those are really cool. I actually quite like the ubuntu login screen as it is in Dapper, though it is a bit plain (lacking in bling). But these designs have a real 'Mac OS but in warm ubuntu colours' feel to them. I think I prefer Login Screen v3 out of all of them, the background colour seems warmer than in v1 and v2, particularly in the way the colour changes around the edges of the screen.
I don't think it has a "Mac OS but in warm Ubuntu colors" feel; Mac OS's design is really less glossy and bling than it might seem. Things like the welcome screen would, in Mac OS design, rather not use large bevelled designs like this one, since those are mostly reserved for smaller screen elements (in 10.4). I'm not saying his designs are bad, though, just that I don't think they're "Mac OS- like". Maybe a little.
I personally would prefer it if the foreground shapes would be visually above the background layer a little more. It seems like it could use a little more contrast. I also kind of miss the large black bar at the bottom that clearly separated the login box from the other options (although I loathed the drop down menu that was introduced in Dapper). I'll make some visual suggestions tonight.
PS: I'm back from a three-week holiday, and wasn't able to contribute any artwork. Strangely enough, that wallpaper I made wasn't included in the wikipage of wallpapers, even though apparently someone wikified contributions for people who couldn't wikify them themselves. Maybe it got caught up somewhere in a deleted wikipage?
