I did this
proposal: http://www.kalpe.com/ubuntu/usplash.gif
If someone finds it interesting, It uses actually very few colors, but
I guess these aren't the colors of the palette, I don't have the
knowledge, maybe a more experienced user could help-me?
Thanks

Hello,
Afaik, bootsplash for bootsplash.org is a quiet ugly patch that include
a lot of graphical stuff (jpeg decompression, ttf support, etc.) in the
kernel.
Something possible would a text terminal emulator that execute login and
use svga or similar to draw a themed terminal.
As I am the co-author of the bootsplash, I will agree :p
The reason for using the usplash is that it works on almost all computers
whereas the bootsplash will revert to the console when anything fails, which
happens a lot on newer computers (intel chips are a real problem).
I am pretty uncertain as to whether the usplash can/will be made to do more
colors for edgy, so I would not hold my breath on that.
Bye,
Ken
