Oh boy... apparently your inbox wasn't clogged up with this bug.

Apparently, Edgy can now shutdown so fast, that many people only get a
moment before the computer shuts off.

The 50 - 500ms sound is a concession so that users get some type of
positive feedback indicating the computer has shut down normally.

This is an improvement over the other two options which were:
 a: truncated sound
 b: no sound at all

I haven't heard the final product so don't know what it sounds like.
Suggestions in appropriate length ran from 1500ms (1.5s) to 50ms
(0.05s). I'll be excited to see how fast my computer shuts down with
Edgy. If its less than 1.5s I'll probably faint.

Then the trick will be getting bootup to be that fast. :D
