I agree with this gradient idea, maybe Giuseppe could make some tests with
it ? Setting the opacity to a very low value, it shouldn't break the theme.

Concerning the latest preview of New wave in the trunk, it looks very nice
but there's some details to work on (I think):
- the icon set : I like the colors, but it's much too simple. Without adding
thousand of effects on the icons, maybe you should try to add some radial
gradient, reflection I don't know, but those little effects that will make
the icon look modern.

-the menu : I really like the color and shape of the hovered item, but as
Conn said :

Eventually change this colour to a lighter one ?
