How do I install the metric paper sizes?!? I'm a bit confused by the above statement. What do you mean by "the only size for printer paper is Letter"? Are you getting this message from a program? If so, what program, and how do you get this message? > My main questions are: What are my options for using this printer to > print stuff? How can I test it? (printer has messages warning of low ink levels, but I'm > told this is normal for re-inked cartridges.) It sounds like your main stumbling block is the problem you describe below ... > > The printer LCD window says something about "load paper then press the > menu key" but when I press the menu key it fails to load the paper. This sounds like a hardware problem, not a Ubuntu problem as such. Is the paper inserted into the printer correctly? It should be less than 100 sheets, firm against the right hand side. Are you using too many sheets? IS the paper torn, wrinkled or folded? Does the printer LCD display anything when you press the menu button? My suggestion is fiddle with the paper and printer until you get rid of the "Load paper" message then get back to us. If it is a new printer you can ring the Dell support line and they may help you get this initial problem sorted.
