As long as you have an audio line in on your computer I'd probably recommend reading up on Audacity [0]. It's done every type of recording I've ever asked it to and the documentation for it all is great. Most of the cheaper record to USB players you can buy in stores actually come with a CD of Audacity on it to use as the conversion tool. You may need to invest a couple of dollars (seriously, it will only be a 2-3 dollars if you don't already have one or more) in a connecting cable from the line out of the tape player to the line in on the computer. The rest of the process is fairly well documented [1]. It will record, convert and easily split up into tracks for both tapes and records. [0] http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/ [1] http://www.dyers.org/blog/archives/2008/09/05/how-to-convert-your-old-casette-tapes-into-mp3s/ - just one of many "how to" for audacity online, there are many more. -- Regards, Jared Norris JP(Qual) BBehSc(Psych) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JaredNorris -- ubuntu-au mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
