Hi, thank you for the 12.10 bootloader responses.
When I install Ubuntu on a computer with two hard drives, where Windows pre-exists on one drive and Ubuntu goes onto the other drive, where is the GRUB placed, onto the Ubuntu hard drive, or somehow onto the Windows hard drive? Just wondering because is it the case that I can happily wipe over the Ubuntu drive and install different Ubuntu versions in turn without affecting the Windows hard drive. If GRUB *is* on the Windows drive, does it [and Windows] get messed up by repeated new installations of different Ubuntu versions [only one version in place at a time]?
