Hi, As a little side project I've made a script for testing that alsamixer control names and dB information is what PulseAudio expects it to be.
The script is meant to be usable both for OEM and platform usage as a QA tool, and the vision is that we'll see less of "everything under 20% on the volume slider is muted, and 21% blows my speakers" bugs in the future. If you have seen and used "dbmeasure" and "dbverify", this is related, but strives to be better, more complete and more user friendly. You can use it with an analog loopback cable, but you can also use it with a speaker+mic combination for testing e g internal speakers on a laptop. The script is currently in alpha, but it would be nice if I had an extra pair of eyes/ears at this point, who could give some feedback on what you think is needed to make it ready for users.
