This is going to be complex, but it sounds doable. Would someone who is interested, please put together a comprehensive set up packages that need to be backported together (including any special packages needed for Kubuntu - I don't know if there are any) and their testing status. If we can get a coherent/complete view of what needs to be done and that it's all tested, then I can approve it.
