Confirmed for backports means that the package has been tested. In
order to do this backport, the newer gtk and all rdepends would have to
be tested. I suspect by the time you're done with a backport of this
magnitude, you'd effectively have a newer Ubuntu release. Upgrading is
probably a better solution.
