Hello all Can anyone please tell me the differences between 'generic' kernel, 'i386' kernel and 'i686' kernel ?
When i type 'uname -r' in the terminal, Ubuntu shows the following: '2.6.24-16-generic' But when i type 'uname -m', it shows: 'i686' My processor is P4 2.40C GHz. Does computer performance depends on kernel version ? that is, should i use 'i686' kernel ?
