You don't need programming to use Linux. Yes, It works differently then Windows but that do not mean you have to learn programming. Remember you had to learn to use Windows too. Its same with Linux. You have to give some time. Learn the basics. and when you have the basics it will be more fun and easier to use. Linux is awesome to those who gives a little time learning it.

Its the best way to get applications in Linux. without internet its too much for any newcomers to download and install applications.
