The purpose of bug reporting is to help the developers to fix them. Bug reporting tool is not complain reporting tool. If you just say "okay! my phn is not working with interpid.. so i am leaving it" - is not well defined bug. It is totally your independence if you want to stay with Interpid or Hardy; but there are a lot of people out there who are staying with Interpid. So the details if you could provide, that would benefit others. It is never I, but we linux :) So the whole point of the discussion is reported bugs are taken seriously; and very talented and well capable programmers around the world, spend their time reading and fixing them. If we don't provide enough information when we report a bug, that can lead to two problems: 1. Very nice developers will try to re-generate the environment and might fail to get the problem- which will be waste of his time. 2. After reading them, a developer will have nearly no clue what you are talking about- and might make him depressed and he might finish bug fixing for the day... :P On the other hand, a well defined bug with lot of traces and error messages will give them idea exactly where the system is breaking and why it is not working. It is told in Linux kernel there are about 2.4 million lines of codes. So, I think you can see the problem. I am sure you will be more informative while reporting bug in future :)
