anyway why don't you install skype using synaptic? it should be straight forward. still if you want to install via tar.gz file (most commonly referred as source file) then extract it and read the README.txt file there should be details instruction of how to install the software. usually its make install check this as reference : http://forum.amaderprojukti.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3044 don't know what they should rename the file to make people actually read the File? perhaps HowToInstall? or InstallGuide?
