Generally, after the installation you get three configurations. e16, e16 gnome and e16 kde. Later two are already configured with the respected DE. e16 is totally raw. It's totally up to you, what you can do with it. Also, what do you mean by configuration? What do you want to configure? You can configure Gnome or KDE from top to bottom. You can make them absolutely bare-minimum or resource-hog. It is not a good question to ask, 'How to configure?' It is always: 'How to configure this or that?' -- M.
