Most probably 99% sure, u have auto update on at start up, that's the reason of that error. Go to Startup and uncheck it. Restart your Pc.
Open Synaptic Package Manager. Search nvidia. Install all the 96/96xx that are not yet installed (except those with the -dev suffix). Make sure nvidia-settins is installed as well. Restart ur Pc.Go to “Hardware Drivers”. Activate 96/96xx. Run the following command to set the nvidia card settings sudo nvidia-settings That's it. It should work fine as well as Compiz.
