anyway I don't wanna make any comment on your problem since I have little
knowledge on the problem.

but why do you need to use firefox solely for downloading files? FF is not a
download accellator  or download manager..

use kget or wget to download files even the large ones.. (for downloading
really large files torrent is the solution)
