Hi I might be wrong, but from my experience, I am giving the explanation.
Ubuntu or any other complete Linux Operating System Comes with some basic driver built-in with it's Kernel. Think, you bough a PC, Install WinXP on it but you don't care about the CD comes with your monitor. But still you will fine the monitor is still working though the monitor is from Samsung, LG, ViewSonic etc. But if you run the CD / DVD comes with the monitor, you will get more better picture. This is the cause, in Linux you don't need any kind of PC-Suite. But if you can manage to install one, you will get extra benefit & access advance feature.
