That is exactly why you are always encouraged to enroll several fingers, not just one... :-) You'd have to be rather out of luck to hurt all your finger tips all at once! On IBM ThinkPad's, you can press Esc to abort fingerprint reading and go back to the traditional BIOS password. When the operating system starts, you can also cancel the fingerprint reading and log in using your usual credentials. I believe you can enroll about 20 fingerprints in the system: you can even enroll your toes, I guess!
