Let me start with a confession : I am NOT a system manager man.
C programming for pleasure (and some usefull results) is my hobby.
A few years ago I started using UBUNTU release 6...
Since I write software for my own pleasure I used several
workspaces, one for each problem I was working on.
In each workspace there were several xterm's active,
adapted in position and dimentions to the specific problem.
Powering down ... and later restarting in release 6 resulted
in me seeing all my xterms in their own workspace as I had
defined them. All very fine.
Enter release 7. Suddenly all workspaces seemed to be the same,
all named "Desk 1", and after a restart ALL xterms of ALL workspaces
were moved to one workspace : an unworkable situation. Also the
positioning of the xterms varied at random.
Enter release 8. Now things were even worse : even the dimentions of
the xterm windows got changed.
Has nobody ever experienced these phenomena ?
Can anybody help ?
I am gratefull for any hint as to how to solve my problem.
