Hi,

Considering the remarks of Matthew and Pierre, I will look into the
possibility to make ubuntu-be a vzw and propose a draft for the
statutes. Until it is finished, I will keep my mouth shut about it.

Why am I proposing a vzw? First of all, if you compare the proposal on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/TeamOrganization (the council and
active members concepts and such), with the legislation on vzw's, it
looks as if you are re-inventing the wheel. Vzw's hava a committee (the
councel), fixed members (identified active members) and joining members.
So please don't talk about ivory tower without further explanations. The
purpose of the organization is clearly defined and the mechanisms for
voting and changing the rules are also clear. Something everyone can
benefit from. After all, the internal 'organization' (as far there is
one) doesn't have to change at all, just from the outside world it looks
more professional.

That being said, we let it rest for now until I have more news.

Regards,
Dries.
