Hallo peoples, noobs, and close friends,
This drove me nuts for days on the battle between Windows and Linux.
Video in Pidgin.
BUT!, what I have found works so good it's amazing.
First when you do a search, you see forums, everyone griping about the
same thing.
Pidgin doesn't support VoIP and Video, well it did somewhere, because my
wife used it. It got lost somewhere. 9.04 to 9.10
But through trial and error, I got the video up so they could see her in
the Philippines.
It works and is free, my problem was navigating the SUDO command lines
in terminal, which I stumbled and learned where the files were
downloaded, goto the Readme.docs for the proper way of getting those
installed files and compiling it into Ubuntu. It works!
Now the problem is on the other side of the issue. The other person must
also have the client installed as well, again Windows pidgin or ubuntu
pidgin.
Any 20 euro camera, USB works, so far we have tested as long as it is
chipped VDC codec, i.e. VDC. OLD original Logitech webcams work in
cheese but not acceptable. I have so many trial and error third party
software in the libraries, I don't know what made it work.
Konomo.com is the key. All the files you need are there. This integrates
Windows and Ubuntu together.
Here's How it works!
