Hi, I was invited to give a presentation at UGent to potential Ubuntu users.
In cooperation with the Open Source Workgroup of UGent, we prepared a lesson, explaining Ubuntu and its advantages. Presentation was given on Tuesday 9/11/10, 19h00. It was a reasonable success. Definitely not bad for a first time. Some things still need some tweaking, but I think we got the basic formula right. I am of the personal opinion that this is the way forward for promoting Open Source in general, and Ubuntu in particular. A report, together with a copy of the presentation, can be found on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/Education/UGhent_Open_Source-2010 I will be giving a similar presentation at a high school in Aalter (between Ghent and Bruges) early next year. My ideal in the end is come to a fairly standardised formula, that can be used by any of us, for a small presentation to promote Ubuntu. The presentation itself is more like a platform to introduce certain topics that can be of interest. Elaboration is necessary, and the end result will depend on the speaker as well as the public of the day. Any input is, of course, always welcome. If other people feel a calling to give presentations to groups of people, feel free to contact me, and/or join me on a next occasion. Regards, Jan. -- Microsoft programs are like Englishmen. They only speak Microsoft.
