Luciana, esqueça o xorg.conf, o Xorg não o usa mais, em busca de melhorar o reconhecimento automático de novos dispositivos. Configure tudo pelas ferramentas gráficas, será melhor. Sobre o evolution estar muito largo, que resolução de tela você está usando? Use alguma maior que 800x600. Qual é o modelo do seu teclado? Ele tem o ç e a tecla AltGr?
