The log files to first examine when looking at distribution upgrades are VarLogDistupgradeMainlog.txt and VarLogDistupgradeAptlog.txt. Mainlog contains general information about the upgrade and Aptlog contains information about the package problem resolver[0]. The error message[1] in the referenced bug is generic and doesn't indicate what the actual problem is. To determine the particular issue the user encountered you'll need to read VarLogDistupgradeAptlog.txt. Looking at just a couple of the duplicates of bug 1241123 they are not all the same issue and a bug pattern is not necessary here. [0] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUpdateManager This is a bit out of date (as is it is missing information on the split between update-manager and ubuntu-release-upgrader) but the log files and their formats are the same. [1] An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu -- Brian Murray Ubuntu Bug Master _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-bugcontrol Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-bugcontrol More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
