Binary package hint: tomcat5
I have just starte working with JSP/JSF.. for this I installed JDK 1.5.0
Apache and Tomcat from the ubuntu 6.06(that's what I have installed)
repositoryes... I tried to make some JSP pages and they worked just fine..
tomcat was a bit slow sometimes at finding directories I added for example and
I used to restart the server to work around this one.
The real problem appeared when I tried some JSF pages... At first the
problem was my lack of knoledge in using the MyFaces libs but when at last I
made a working page tomcat wold freeze: it wold not respond to the browser
anymore and it wold refuze to close when using /etc/init.d/tomcat restart (the
script had to kill it). I tried this even with some examples from the myfaces
site with the same result. For some time tomcat wold work after a server
restart... but after a few tryouts with diferent examples the server died
completly and I was unable to use it anymore. I tried reinstalling it but to no
results.
After this experience I uninstalled both Apcahe and Tomcat (complete
remove) and I reinstlled apache from the repository and downloaded tomcat 5.5
binarys from the tomcat project page. This version works great out of the box.
