Public bug reported:
i believe it started after i installed the nvidia drivers for dapper.
now after i click on the shut down/restart button and ubuntu begins to
shut down it jumps to a black screen (i think the monitor is off not
just putting out black light) instead of showing the fancy new shut down
screen.
