I tried that. Yes, I did have that 'rc hplip-base' in my dpkg list.  
However, when I restarted cupsd, nothing came out of the printer.

After that, I tried something when I checked over the printer's properties.  
On the "Connection" tab, I changed the Printer Type: from "Network Printer 
(CUPS Printer (IPP))" to "Local Printer."  As soon as I did that, all the 
print jobs started coming out.
