Binary package hint: xubuntu-desktop
I've just installed the xubuntu-desktop package over a clean and fresh
kubuntu 6.06 install and that ended up with a lot of bad news.
First of all, xfce crashes badly and doesn't launch. When I select xfce
from the login menu and login, the screen just becomes too weird like
the video mode is changing and then the login menu just reappears.
Then, the KDE desktop also suffered a bit.
When I launch adept a warning message appears warning me that the database is
locked because some other application is using it.
Knotify is also screwed up. When it is launched a message appears claiming that
the previous instance of knotify crashed. That message prompts me to disable
aRts sound output.
These are only the first impressions of this incident. I believe that
due to the poor state that my computer was left after installing all
those packages that there is a lot more problems lingering.
