Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
gnome-sound-properties greys out the System Sounds settings unless you
check the box labeled 'Enable software mixing (ESD)'. If you have a
sound card that does hardware mixing or are using dmix, you would
probably want to be able to change these settings without ESD running.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Run gnome-sound-properties from the Preferences menu or the terminal.
2. Uncheck 'Enable software mixing (ESD)'.
3. Notice that you now can't make any changes to whether there are system
sounds and what those sounds are.
** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu)
Importance: Untriaged
Status: Unconfirmed
