Confirm this bug, tested with vmware-player 1.0.1-4.
"libpng12.so.0" part can use the workaround - making a link to the one
in /usr/lib - as suggested on bug 47792. But, as reported, vmplayer
freezes at "Open Virtual Machine" UI while "GTK_IM_MODULE=scim" is set.
Just putting "export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim" in a .sh to start vmplayer works
for me under en_US.UTF-8.
And, one more thing, I used to set "export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes"
for the vmplayer from vmware.com site to avoid this kind of library
version issue, but it doesn't work for the one in the multiverse repo.
