These are actually two bugs, the update-manager cares for removal of
xscreensaver on upgrades, the document
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DapperUpgrades should mention that you
have to remove xscreensaver manually if you dont use the automatic
upgrade process. Please file a second bug for the flickering issue that
happens after you removed xscreensaver. Reassigning that to ubuntu-docs
to make the docteam aware of it.
