Public bug reported:

My screen resolution is very low when I boot my computer with the screen
off.

I also can't change it using the "Screen resolution" tool which can be
found in the System->Preferences menu.

Another resolution issue is that if I selected a low resolution during
the last session and don't restore it that session, I reboot, I get
(indeed, which is correct) that resolution after reboot. BUT, I also
can't change the resolution to a higher one anymore.
