Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-686
I've got a WG111 v2 WLAN usb stick ( USB ID: 0846:6a00 ). I'm using the r8187
driver.
Officially it has got a Realtek 8187 chipset, but the driver reports Realtek
8225.
Uname -a: Linux jan-laptop 2.6.15-25-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jun 14 11:34:19 UTC
2006 i686 GNU/Linux
I do:
ifconfig wlan1 up
iwconfig wlan1 essid blah
ifconfig wlan1 [Some IP] or dhclient wlan1
[One or two seconds...]
[Total system freeze]
When it has aquired the IP my system freezes after one or two seconds. It seems
that it freezes when the stick tries to send the first packets. Recieving
packets in monitor mode works really fine.
It doesn't matter if I connect to an unencrypted or WEPed network. It also
doesn't matter if I connect to an Ad-Hoc or Managed network. It also freezes in
master mode.
Really intresting is that it DOESN'T FREEZE when I boot into Recovery
Mode. In recovery mode I can surf the net from console. :O
DMESGs for normal and Recovery Mode will follow. I will post them soon.
Because of the total system freeze ( I need to hit the Power button ) I
wasn't able to collect debug info. Is there a way I can collect such
info?
