Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vmware-player

I had the vmware-player packages install, but I decided I wanted to try
out vmware workstation trial.

I downloaded it and ran the script, it said vmware software was already
installed.

I purged the vmware-modules-`uname -r` and vmware-player packages, and
there was no vmware-related packages left, but it left a file
/etc/vmware/locations (purge said leaving /etc/vmware as not empty)

This causes the official installer to still barf sayign some other
vmware product is installable.

rm -rf /etc/vmware solves the problem.

** Affects: vmware-player (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
