Public bug reported:
I've got a Seagate 160 GB hard disk in an USB case. Parted can see the
disk itself, and even detects the model correctly, but refuses to get
the partition table or change it. "Can't have a partition outside the
disk" it says to QtParted, and advices to report a bug.
With a 512 MB USB flashdrive everything works.
