Public bug reported:

There are numerous bug reports on the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
package about missing functionality, and one that I opened about the
/dev/input/event? device node jumping around across reboots.

Most of these missing functionality bugs are probably due to people
using the /dev/input/psaux device for their touchpad, when they really
should be using the /dev/input/event? device node. But, before I can
open a bug to patch the documentation in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
(to tell folks to use the event interface instead), we need a device
node that is easy to find and won't jump around when the computer is
restarted.

I'm attaching a patch that adds an entry to udev's 60-symlinks.rules
file to watch for a touchpad event interface and create a
/dev/input/touchpad symlink to it.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed

** Attachment added: "Adds an entry to create a /dev/input/touchpad symlink to
/etc/udev/rules.d/60-symlinks.rules"
