Actually, what I'm trying to report is that the packages that download via
synamptic don't work properly in 64 bit.

I have a fully operational 64 bit platform, and use synamptic to install all
packages. I installed Firefox and the mplayer plugin and loads of other
things that way. In my opinion, if the packages are available for the 64bit
platform, then they should work on the 64 bit platform. It's mys
understanding that the packages I've got are 64bit, or at worste supposed to
be 64 bit compatible.

I understand that it may be a very complex issue, and indeed, I have
workaround solutions on both a 32bit chroot and using linux32, and nswrapper
technology.

The bug I'm trying to report is simply that the packages provided for Ubunut
64bit firefox + mplayer plugin simply don't work together correctly.

I hope this clarification helps! Let me know if there's anything more I can
do,
Cheers,
GF.
