Yes, I meant to go back and close this bug. Turns out it was a problem with
GBS, not Ubuntu. I just unregistered and re-registered my GBS account and
all was dandy. Thanks for the follow-up.

  The Google Browser Sync Extension for Firefox fails to connect. I have
  used this extension extensively on other Linux and Windows machines,
  including the Windows partition on this machine, under the same
  connection I am currently using.
  
  I am aware the GBS extension is supposed to be OS agnostic, but only on
  Ubuntu 6.06 have I not been able to connect. I have tried reinstalling
  the extension, and tested it on 1.5 stable and the latest stable FF,
  1.5.0.4.
  
  Can anyone second this experience?
