Public bug reported:
running Ubuntu dapper, up-to-date as of this posting. machine is a Dell
dual Xeon w/ an nVidia Geforce 6600 PCI-E card run in TwinView (2
monitors) mode.
symptom: sudden X restart in particular situations (reproducible) involving
Firefox (v1.5.0.4), but Firefox itself does not seem to be the cause, given the
error messages (see below). so far, i identified 2 reproducible crash
scenarios.
1) Firefox has rendered a particular website (phpPgAdmin) that is special in
having a large width. moving Firefox's the horizontal scroll bar leads to
sudden X restart.
2) same website has been rendered. taking a snapshot using Gimp. window w/
snapshot overlaps Firefox window. moving snapshot window causes either sudden X
restart or X freeze.
