** Description changed: In Ubuntu there are several bugs that prevent Audigy 2/4 sound cards from being used for audio input. The card I have to test is an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro (which is identical to the Audigy 4 Pro with the exception of the DAC). 1. Input levels are way too low, even when all inputs are set to 100% in alsamixer. There is a thread on the Ubuntu forums here <http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=198626> that has screenshots that illustrate the problem nicely. 2. The input "Line In 2" does not work at all within Ubuntu. 3. The inputs are labeled incorrectly; "Line In 1/Mic In", for example, - is labeled "Aux 2" in alsamixer. + is labeled "Line2" in alsamixer. + + I have been informed that a bug report relating to the most important + low volume issue has been open upstream since 2004. <https://bugtrack + .alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=324> Maybe someone at Ubuntu can + light a fire and finally get this bug squashed? Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'alsa'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.
