Public bug reported: My Inspiron 9300 laptop, which has been running Dapper for several months, has suddenly (don't know exactly when) lost sound - any sound. Alternate windoze boot has sound ok, so probably not hardware. Only event I can tie it too is new GTK packages last week, but I'm not certain.
lspci shows same sound card as https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gst-plugins- base0.10/+bug/42881, namely 0000:00:1e.2 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03) I've checked with alsamixer, and turned everything on, to no avail. System is up-to-date, gstreamer0.10-alsa is 0.10.7.0ubuntu4. I had a brief period (after I turned on PCM in alsamixer and rebooted once or twice), when the sound came back! But now it's gone again, with no changes having been made. Anything I could check? Regards, David Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'gstreamer'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- No sound suddenly https://launchpad.net/bugs/51556 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
