As in for a conference paper that should be EXACTLY 6 pages, Nimus 
changes the size of the article.

I was embedding and subsetting fonts in breezy and getting out Times 
font, not Nimbus.

I can run pdflatex on the exact same file on two machine, one using 
breezy and one using dapper, and get two different length papers as outputs.
