Yes, I'm afraid this is a known issue; at present we just note (on
releases.ubuntu.com) that you need to use the alternate install CD for
LVM or RAID. Supporting LVM and RAID is on my long-term radar via
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubiquity/AdvancedPartitionerRewrite, but it will
take a couple of releases. In the meantime, use the alternate install
CD.

The mount point widgets are comboboxentry widgets - as well as selecting
from the list, you can also just type in a mount point. (That's not the
case for the partition selection widgets, but believe me, you don't
actually want to try to enter LVM and RAID in there - it really doesn't
understand them and I would expect it to get very confused.)
