** Summary changed:

- Kernel Panic, not alble to boot on live cd
+ Kernel Panic, not alble to boot on live cd--from kernel update to 2.6.27-2

** Description changed:

ok so when ubuntu loads it freezes and the caps lock indicator flashes.
text only mode outputs: Kernel Panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt
handler! ---then dies

when i first installed hardy hardin 64 bit i had this problem. even from
booting off livecd. 32 bit ran fine.
i installed/ran intrepid ibex alpha 4 for like 3/4 weeks, until there was
some sort of kernel update on ~august 30, which reintroduced the problem into
intrepid ibex

the whole problem I posted here before i tried initially installing
  intrepid: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/42508
+
+ when grub now boots, it has 3 more options: the standard boot, recovery
+ mode, and last successful boot---- except that its with a different
+ kernel version. (i assume installed from the update.
+
+ the new kernel version: 2.6.27-2, is the default and fries my comp when
booted from.
+ the old kernel: 2.6.26-5, you have to manually select, after which it boots
fine.
+
+ how can i get the new kernel version to work, and why isn't it?
+
+ im sersly starting to get pissed off with these random "virus updates"
+ by ubuntu which fry your computer. reminds me to much of windows..
