I would be glad to do so but about a week ago I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 5 and I didn't encounter the problem since. I am still using the same version of Tbird so probabely the problem wasn't in Tbird but in Ubuntu 8.04 or a combination of them. And no problem, no backtrace I'm afraid. So my excuses for being not able to help you any more and for upgrading my system ;) .
